New Features in SurveySolutions 7
The SurveySolutions 7 desktop client includes several new features, offering a friendlier user interface, more robust questionnaire design and survey functionality, and expanded invitation features.
UI Enhancements
- Multiple Undo/Redo with tool tip descriptions
The Questionnaire Designer now supports multiple undo and redo operations, in addition to allowing the undoing of many more actions, such as images, hyperlinks, and all table operations. Tool tips let the user know what action undo and redo will perform.
- XP Style Ruler Bar
The ruler bar in the Questionnaire Designer now takes on a familiar MicroSoft Word XP appearance.
- Font Color/Highlight Pickers
Allow users to easily change font colors and highlight without having to bring up the Font properties dialog.
Questionnaire Design
- Copying of Advanced Branching Statements
Advanced Branching statements can now be copied using a Copy Branch button, allowing users to easily re-use and modify existing branches.
- Text Box size in Table Questions is now customizable
The size of text boxes on the web is now determined by the number of underscores entered in the Table side in the Questionnaire Designer.
- Surveys and Presentations can now be saved as Adobe Acrobat with Document Security
Questionnaires, Text Email Surveys, Paper Surveys and Presentations can now be exported to the Adobe Acrobat PDF Format by using File | Save as. Users may also password protect the files, or set additional permissions including printing, making changes, copying of text and images and screen reader access.

- Automatically converts images on Publish to the Web
Image formats that are not normally supported by web browsers can now be automatically converted to browser compatible formats on publishing to the web. Users can pick between the PNG and JPG format. When the JPG format is selected, users can also set the compression level to save on survey download time.

Survey Functionality
- Auto Advance on empty pages
If there are no visible questions, sections or text blocks on a page, the page will automatically advance to the next page in the survey or submit if there are no more pages. This is useful for passing hidden data between pages or surveys.
- Advanced Branching based on number of choices selected in a Choose Many
Advanced Branching criteria can now be based on the number of choices selected or not selected from a Choose Many question.
- Allow odd/even rows with Drilldown Questions
The Indicate Odd and Even Rows setting in Table Properties can now be used in combination with Drilldown questions. The shading for odd and even rows is now set dynamically based on what topics are visible. (Colors are still controlled by the survey's CSS file.)
- Support for multiple end pages
Different end pages can now be defined for different exit conditions, including using the Submit button to complete a survey, using the Save button on a Save and Resume survey, and meeting an End condition from Advanced or Standard Branching.

- Rank Order now supports Drilldown Questions with an input type of Dropdown Boxes. Accounts for hidden topics
Rank Order validation can now be successfully used with Drilldown Questions and Choose One sides whose input type is set to Dropdown boxes. Rank Order logic will now ignore the hidden topics.
- Match Value Validation
Match value validation enforces that the value of one Fill in the Blank field must match the value of a previous Fill in the Blank answer. This is useful for confirming input such as e-mail addresses and passwords.
- Min/Max validation and Allocation Total can now reference fields on the current page
Piped values for Minimum and Maximum value and Allocation Total can now be from questions on the same page, a page break is no longer required.
- A Table Question Side's Choice List can now be based on a previous Choose Many Question
A Table side's choice list (Choose one or Choose Many) can now be dependent on the answer to a previous Choose Many question. The choice list placeholder can now be inserted in a table side using Insert | Piped Choices from the menu bar.
- Support for Piped Allocation total
The required total for an Allocation question can now be based on the answer to a previous Fill in the Blank question.
- Topics displayed in a Table Question can be set dynamically
The number of visible topics in a Table question can now be set to a fixed value or the value of a previous Fill in the Blank question (with an input type set to Whole Number).
- Support for Allocation in Table Questions
Allocation properties for a Fill in the Blank table side can now be set just as is done for a regular Fill in the Blank question.
- Valid Character Validation
Allows only specified characters to be entered for a Fill in the Blank question.
Invitation Management
- Insert File Attachments
File attachments may now be added to Survey Invitations.
